DIY ACTIVITY: Counting hands and beads. ⠀ - Monti Family

💪 GOAL?
To become familiar with numbers and basic calculations, which are the precursors to learning mathematics. In Montessori pedagogy, we associate this knowledge with the senses to make it more "palpable" for children. So using this playful medium is just right!

👶 AGE?
We don't think this activity is only appreciated by children of a particular age. On the other hand, if your child has an attraction for numbers, then this activity might appeal to them. Generally speaking, this sensitive period arrives around the child's 3/4th birthday.

✅ HOW TO DO IT?
On a white sheet of paper, glue the two hands previously cut out. Be careful not to glue the fingers together, as your child will be able to lower them when calculating as he would his own fingers. In the center, place a small thread lengthwise. You can slide 10 beads through it. It's up to you to decide what you want to offer your child. You can associate a certain number of beads with the number of equivalent fingers. You can also make simple calculations. The activities are varied!

❓Is this an activity you'd like to try? It's very inexpensive and promises some great playful learning moments!
